Through the sport of volleyball, I have learned that a positive mood impacts a team setting. To work as a team it is important to celebrate and recognize accomplishments and strengths in my team. Through written communication of sending texts, I acknowledge the strengths of my teammates and give them reassurance to their playing abilities. This example on the left showcases the text I send to one of my teammates after a tournament. I noticed that they were down on themselves and I wanted to send out a text to reassure them of how well they played and if they were ok.

Every other weekend, I visit my great aunt but I also volunteer at the senior retirement home that she lives in (Mercy Retirement Home). I check in each room to see how my "friends" are doing. I also play piano in the community room during Christmas time to enlighten the mood, and I also run bingo nights for all the people at the retirement home. I find joy in helping the senior retirement home because it makes me happy to see them happy.

I wanted to be more active in my school community by becoming a link crew leader this year. It was fun to be able to have a group of incoming freshman to help guide around school as I remembered high school being intimidating. I coordinated games to play to get everyone out of their comfort zone and I even gave out candy to try to get them to participate in meeting each other. I am glad that I was able to be apart of a group of leaders and learn new ways to interact with people.

I love being apart of my council because it helped me build connections with the people I am with everyday. I have contributed in building the connection week spirit days, arranged and decorated the room for our leadership Thanksgiving feast, and more. I love being in charge of a specific event or role because it makes me feel more involved while also learning new things about myself.

I have had the opportunity in participating in two fundraisers, one for my leadership class as well as volleyball program. Raising money for both is an important aspect because it benefits in the activities and necessities that we do throughout the year. By reaching out to family and friends I raised $180 for my volleyball team as well as $370 for my leadership class. This has helped me realize the importance on managing money as well as how to spend it.

As senior class vice president, the officers and I plan out different events for our students to participate in. To create a fun environment, I have created a playlist on the Spotify platform to play on the speakers when we do have our senior events. I used this playlist during senior sunrise for example. It is appropriate because it is the clean version, there is a variety of music, and it fits the mood for fun events.

In my junior year, I applied for leadership positions and one of the requirements was to make a poster using the details listed below (date, time, when, where, and other important details). Making posters is one of the things we do in leadership. I have had the chance to develop my skills all year long. Making information as informative and appealing as possible for posters is a terrific method to communicate with students. Social media may not widely be used, making this method the most effective and informative.

Our school has a wide variety of clubs to join for all different kind of interests. One of the clubs I was more involved this year was Bulldog Project. I attended all of the rehearsals, took part in speaking during the presentation, as well as attended the presentations at the different middle schools around Tracy. During rehearsals, we practice/ design a script that can entertain the kids while teaching them a valuable lesson. This has helped me develop as a person to teach/help younger kids about the effects of bullying and how to prevent it. It is important to me as a student leader to create and adapt a script that is suitable for your audience that way you can properly deliver your message as well as grab their attention. Along the way, I have met lots of amazing people from different schools that have the same motives as me. It is important to me as a student leader to get involved with our school campus as well as our community.

This year I got the opportunity to participate in development day, where West High school, Kimball High School, and Tracy High School came together as a whole to educate one another using our unique perspectives. We focused on making our school community a better place for students, staff, and others as well as devolping our own skills so that we impact others with what we learned. I was able to get out of my comfort zone and participate in getting to know others, the experience developed my skills as well as educated me.

As a student leader it is important to notice our diverse campus. At Tracy High school, we promote "unity week," a week to being together all of the students on our campus as a family in support of noticing the different students that we have on campus. This includes culture, clubs, sports, etc. that students partake in on our campus. As clubs and funds commissioner, it was a great opportunity to host the unity week to promote the different cultures on our campus. During the unity fair, our different clubs sold food to represent their culture and shared cultural performances as well. It was a good opportunity to hear the different ideas that the different clubs had to form unity week. This has helped me develop organization skills when creating events on our school campus as well as to take pride in the different students we have on our campus

Quest Science Center ran an event that was related to expanding your knowledge of engineering and science through different series of activities. There were 600-800 attendees ranging from kids - teens. It was a fun opportunity to run the rocket launching activity to help others realize the fun in science and engineering. The best part was seeing people enjoy science in a fun and interacting way. |
In the Tracy community we have two rotary clubs that help the different high schools in Tracy. One other student and I had the special opportunity to attend the RYLA camp that was promoted by the rotary club to help develop my communication and leadership skills. With connection with the rotary club, this helps promote connection between different volunteering opportunities as well as events that they host. Not only did I attend the RYLA camp, but I learned life long skills from the inspirational speakers that were there as well as well as the other girls. This has helped me realize the importance in connection with organizations in our community and how they can benefit our students on our campus.

Being the clubs and funds commissioner, one of the major events that I have to run is club rush week. Club rush week is a great way to advertise the diverse clubs we have at Tracy high School and to get students more involved. With the different clubs we have, it accommodates students' interests and likes and showcases the diversity our school provides. The officers of the club provide information and it is a tradition throughout where not only the teachers participate but the students.

Every so often, an ICC meeting is hosted either during 6th period of after school. These meetings are to discuss different events that may be important for our clubs on our campus and discuss other concerns. During these meetings, creating an agenda has helped me communicate the important information for our clubs as well as answer any questions or concerns that they may have. These meetings are a chance for clubs to voice the different ideas that they have and to ask any questions for upcoming events.

Every Thursday our leadership has a student council meeting. I am in charge of reading/tracking all of the money that we gain and loose. The focus includes the reimbursements of people, in which vendors receive money, the amount of money each class is spending, and more. It is important to get everyone's approval at the end of the expenditures to make sure everyone agrees and there are no cometary errors.

The class of 2024 promotes different kinds of fundraisers throughout the year. The most recent fundraiser that we posted was the chipotle fundraiser. This has helped me realize the connection between our students and community, making a better connection in realizing what our students are interested in. With a better realization will help not only our class but also creating a connection between our students. Doing the research of what our students are interested in will also help with student involvement which is always an important thing.
